Jack Naylor from Normanhurst Boys High School won both the Public Speaking and the Area Final of the Lions International Youth of the Year Program with a passionate speech about Domestic Violence in Australia. Jack will now compete at the District Final on 2nd April.

Epping Eastwood Lions Club hosted this annual event last Sunday at a function at North Ryde RSL Club. Students from several local high schools had to give two impromptu speeches followed by a prepared speech during the evening event. Comprehensive interviews were held with each contestant during the day.

It should give community members satisfaction to know that our future is in the hands of some great young people who we will no doubt hear from in years to come. This program is sponsored by NAB as it has been for the past 17 years. Winning students at the National level will have the opportunity to travel overseas to meet other young achievers.

The guest speaker was Jacob Masina, the President of the Epping Eastwood Leo Club who updated the guests with the latest news from the Leos. This newest Leo Club formed in February 2016 is holding its Charter evening at the Epping Hotel on 14th April.

If you would like to come along and learn how you as a young person between the ages of 18 and 30 can assist the community, please contact Leos at eppingeastwoodleos@gmail.com or follow the Epping Eastwood Leo Club on facebook.
